Print Design

I’ve been designed newspaper pages for about two years now in a professional setting, and I did layout at my college newspaper for two years before that. At my current position, I’m responsible for the production of a weekly agricultural publication and for the layout of one edition of a twice-a-week newspaper. I’m proficient with Adobe InDesign and am familiar with QuarkXpress. The following front pages have been created with InDesign.

Redesigning Country World

Country World is a weekly agricultural tabloid publication circulated throughout Texas and even outside the state somewhat. In early 2020, I had the opportunity to redesign the publication.

Left is the prior design. Right is my redesign. I wanted to aim for a more photo-heavy front page to catch the eye, and I made use of a heavy font as a slug for the lead story. For the color scheme, I shifted from green to a more rustic orange, and I simplified the logo.
